⭐ With around 4,000 residents living across the Barbican Estate, gardening provides a valuable way to bring together different generations and strengthen community connections.
This project aims to expand participation in gardening activities across the Barbican community, creating more opportunities for residents to connect with nature, develop skills and build relationships. With around 4,000 residents living across the Barbican Estate, gardening provides a valuable way to bring together different generations and strengthen community connections.
The project will improve access to gardening support through a refreshed Barbican Horticultural Society website, children’s gardening activities and workshops for adults with reduced mobility. Activities will include plant-growing sessions, bulb planting and specialist support to understand how gardening can become more accessible.
By encouraging more people to take part in growing and gardening, the project will support wellbeing, biodiversity and community inclusion while helping residents make greater use of the unique green spaces across the Barbican Estate.
