Lord Parkinson of Whitley Bay visits the Culture Mile BID

We were delighted to welcome Lord Parkinson of Whitley Bay, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Arts and Heritage at Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), to the Culture Mile BID.

Lord Parkinson met with BID Chair Andrew Smith and Chief Executive Austin Casey to hear about the BID’s recent establishment and future plans including the launch of our Street Ambassadors, our Community Fund and the Public Realm Study currently underway looking at ways to activate the area and weave Culture into the heart of placemaking.

He visited our Christmas Bauble light activation in St Bartholomew’s Close and St Bartholomew The Great Church in the heart of the BID, where he met with the Rector, Fr. Marcus Walker, and Michelle, one of our wonderful Culture Mile Ambassadors!
