London Museum | πŸŽ‰ OPENING on 28 November 2026

πŸ₯³ This morning, it was announced that the London Museum will open its new, free permanent galleries at Smithfield on 28 November 2026. This landmark moment for London’s cultural future will breathe new life into this former Victorian market and provide day-to-night programming shaped by the community.

πŸ“ˆ The re-opening marks a significant milestone for Culture Mile, strengthening our position as one of the city’s most exciting destinations for culture, learning and creativity, while paying homage to the rich history and heritage of Smithfield and the City of London. Created with the involvement of over 100,000 people from London and beyond, the new museum reflects a shared vision for culture that is open, inclusive and accessible to all.

πŸ’¬ Caroline Hanson, Director of Communications for the Culture Mile BID, said: β€œThe Culture Mile welcomes the impressive new London Museum, creating a free cultural destination for future generations nestled in London’s most historic neighbourhood. We’re especially delighted to be working with the museum as their destination partner. With Centre for London’s ‘Art for All’ report highlighting the lack of engagement by Londoners with their city’s own arts and culture, the new museum aims to provide this audience a space designed by and for them.”

🌟 As Chris Hayward, Policy Chairman of the City of London Corporation reflects, β€œA London icon has been reimagined”, renewing β€œthe world’s foremost financial district as a 7-day a week centre for world class culture, history and ambition.”

πŸ† Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this exceptional vision to life and we look forward to its opening later this year!
