📣 Culture Mile BID appoints Rebecca Crofton as Director of Placemaking

🤝 Culture Mile BID is delighted to announce the appointment of Rebecca Crofton as its new Director of Placemaking.

🏆 Rebecca joins the organisation with extensive experience in client management, stakeholder engagement and the planning and delivery of large-scale creative and public realm infrastructure projects. Their expertise spans architectural and festive lighting, wayfinding, public art, urban greening and experiential installations, with a proven track record of creating vibrant places where businesses, communities and visitors can thrive.

📈 Having worked with Business Improvement Districts, town centre partnerships, local authorities and property asset managers, Rebecca brings a collaborative and strategic approach to placemaking. They will lead Culture Mile BID’s Inspiring Places programme, working with partners across the City of London to deliver ambitious projects that enhance the public realm, support investment and help shape the continued evolution of the Culture Mile.

💬 Rebecca Crofton, Director of Placemaking, said:

“I am thrilled to be appointed as Director of Placemaking for Culture Mile BID. I am excited to build on the brilliant work the BID has been doing over the last three years, delivering high-quality new green infrastructure, public art, festive lighting and meanwhile use projects and supporting the City of London Corporation to deliver major transformational public realm.

We are lucky to be surrounded by world-class cultural institutions in a dynamic development landscape and I look forward to working with our partners to continue to deliver bold and innovative placemaking initiatives in the Culture Mile.”

💬 Dr Julie Grail, Strategic Consultant to the Board, said:

“We are delighted that Rebecca is joining Culture Mile BID as our Director of Placemaking. This is an important role joining our existing two Directors – Caroline Hanson and Sarah Baker. Rebecca has previous experience working with us and has proved to be a highly effective professional and valuable member of the team.”

⚪ Rebecca joins Culture Mile BID at an exciting time for the organisation as it continues to deliver its five-year programme of investment in the area. Working alongside businesses, cultural organisations, landowners and the City of London Corporation, the BID is creating greener streets, more welcoming public spaces and a thriving destination where the past meets progress to spark new cultural moments.

With major investment and development continuing across the Culture Mile, including the opening of the new London Museum later this year, Rebecca will play a key role in delivering projects that strengthen the area’s identity, support local businesses and ensure the Culture Mile continues to thrive as one of London’s most distinctive destinations.
