๐Ÿ–Š Zine Making Workshop with Mental Fight Club

On Thursday 24 April 2025, the Barbican Library welcomed residents and visitors for a Zine Making Workshop led by Mental Fight Club and renowned illustrator Richy K. Chandler.

๐ŸŽจ Funded by the Culture Mile BID Community Fund, this free workshop invited participants to get hands-on with art and storytelling by learning how to create their very own zines, with no experience required. From collaging to illustration, the session offered a supportive space for self-expression through writing and visuals.

๐Ÿ™Œ The event was run by Mental Fight Club, a Southwark based charity known for delivering inspiring creative sessions that support mental health and community wellbeing. The charity runs the Dragon Cafรฉ in the City sessions in collaboration with Shoe Lane Library and the City of London Corporation, alongside its flagship project, The Dragon Cafรฉ.

๐Ÿ“š Participants were guided through the process by Richy K. Chandler, a London-based comic creator, illustrator and author whose work includes comic strips, childrenโ€™s books and magazine illustrations. Richy shared techniques and inspiration from his own practice, helping attendees of all abilities bring their ideas to life. The workshop ended with a Q&A session, where attendees had the chance to ask Richy and the Mental Fight Club team questions about creative careers, zine culture and the power of using art to express personal stories and experiences.

๐Ÿ’› The event was part of the Culture Mile BIDโ€™s commitment to supporting inclusive and creative projects that bring people together.
