Walking Tour – The fashion history of Culture Mile – 12:30 to 14:00 on Thursday 29th of February

Culture Mile was once the centre of the cloth trade. Join us over London Fashion Week to explore a vibrant neighbourhood.

Join us during London Fashion week to explore this vibrant neighbourhood and it’s long history with fashion and the cloth trade dating back to Roman times.

The Culture Mile area has a rich fashion history stretching all the way back to Roman times. On this walking tour, you’ll explore some of the area’s most iconic sights – including historic Smithfield, the modernist Barbican Estate and the gleaming new towers around Moorgate – to find fashion and clothing woven into the story at every turn.

To mark London Fashion week, we will be hosting two Fashion Walks in the Culture Mile area. The week aims to showcase some of the industry’s most exciting new talents in London and in some of the world’s leading fashion colleges and universities.

London Fashion week will be taking place from Friday 16 – Tuesday 20 February.

Led by a former fashion journalist, City of London Green Badge guide and Culture Mile resident, Susannah Cohen AITG. This walking tour uncovers the neighbourhood’s rag trade roots, from medieval cloth merchants to the Jewish immigrants who shaped the industry and the role of power dressing in the City today.
