EFG London Jazz Festivalโs pop-up venue and bar, The Jazz Social, is returning for the third year running. Once again located in the Citypoint complex, just a stones throw from the Barbican, The Jazz Social throws open its doors on Monday 9 November, bringing two weeks of live music, radio broadcasts, DJ sets, family events, networking sessions, exclusive merch, an Everything Jazz / Blue Note record shop and much more.
The Jazz Social is open during the day with a wide range of free events, including a special performance from singer songwriter Juliet Temko (9 Nov) to open things on Monday at 1pm. From Tuesday 10 Nov to Thursday 12 Nov, attendees can catch the next generation of jazz stars with special lunchtime concerts presented with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, including The Damian Bresnan Latin Quartet and the soul-jazz vocals of FIBI, all starting at 1pm.
Later in the programme of free events is desert jazz collective Arfoud Brothers & Sisters (21 Nov at 5pm) who blend North African folk music with Gnawa, desert blues, afrobeat and more. Both weeks that The Jazz Social is open, from Tuesday – Friday at 5pm there will be Piano Hour with unannounced special guests performing solo sets on the piano. There will also be a Happy Hour running every weekday from 5-7pm.
